The Pre-Market Brief lands at 6:30am ET on weekdays. It’s built around one idea: surface the freshest, highest-signal output from the Writers corpus before the open — biased hard to sector and single-name views — and ride that with the day’s setup and a quick market read. Writers tend to publish their meatiest single-name theses in the evening, overnight, and over the weekend, so a morning sweep catches that whole window.

What’s in it

☀️ Today’s setup

One line at the very top — the current regime (read straight from the regime engine, including its top anomaly when one is severe), overnight ES futures, and the day’s headline event. The five-second read.

📐 Tape read

A second line under the setup — the single highest-severity computed equities observation from the last close (a divergence, a concentration stat, a σ-outlier). It only appears when there’s one worth flagging, so its presence is itself a signal.

🧯 Credit

A third line, rarer still — it appears only when the Credit Monitor’s verdict changed (say, Asleep → Stirring), a tripwire tripped, or a live widening is in progress. Silence is the normal state; when this line shows up, credit is doing something the equity tape may not be pricing yet.

⭐ Your names today

Names from your portfolio and watchlists that had something happen — fresh calls (with the writer), new coverage, 13F flows, earnings timing, outsized σ-moves. The same engine as the Today page’s centerpiece, in your inbox. Call lines carry the writer’s grade up front: for a FOLLOW writer, for a FADE writer — so you know at a glance whether the call comes from someone worth following or worth fading.

🔄 Writer flips

Right after your names: any writer who reversed a standing position — “Zephyr: long→short · was +32% over 4mo”. Scoped to names you follow or graded authors, so it only fires when the flip actually means something to you.

What writers just dropped (the centerpiece)

The distilled writer signal since the last brief, ordered by how much you should care:
  • 🆕 First-ever mentions — a name appearing in the entire corpus for the first time. Nobody’s covered it before — the strongest signal.
  • 📄 New deep-dives & theses — a dedicated piece built around one name, with the writer, a one-line takeaway, and a Read / Watch / View ↗ link to the original.
  • 💡 Fresh calls — explicit directional calls pulled from the day’s pieces.
  • 🤝 Consensus — names two or more writers landed on. When their views genuinely differ, each distinct view is broken out (the AI groups writers who agree), so it reads as substance, not a bare source count.
Tickers carry a small company · sector line, and links go straight to the source article, video, or post.

New Substack & YouTube

A clean reading list of every long-form piece published in the last 24h — newest first, each with a one-line topic/takeaway and its source logo. No ticker call-outs here (those live in the sections above) — just “what got published today.”

📅 On deck today

  • Macro calendar — today’s scheduled releases (tiered: Big Three / Tier 1 / Tier 2), with the time and consensus / previous; plus a “coming up” line for the next few.
  • Reporting today — the notable companies on the earnings calendar, with your own holdings starred.

🧾 Earnings recap

The prior session’s notable reporters — mega caps plus anything you hold (starred ★, ranked first): beat/missed X% vs estimate, actual vs expected EPS, and the stock’s reaction (after-close reporters are measured on the next session and labeled so).

🌏 Overnight

The live tape while you slept: ES/NQ futures, DXY, 10Y (in bps), gold, WTI, BTC vs prior close — plus Asia and Europe session moves.

🔄 Rotation

The week’s quadrant crossings from the rotation view — themes newly leading, turning up, or rolling over vs SPY. Same events as the Rotation watch card on Today.

🌅 Market color (at yesterday’s close)

  • A compact tile strip of the headline instruments — SPY · QQQ · IWM · VIX · DXY · 3M · 10Y · HYG · GLD · BZ — the same set and values as the Market Pulse tiles.
  • The Pulse snapshot: a one-line headline, the sentiment read, the day’s themes, and sector leaders / laggards.

🏦 13F (only when there’s news)

The first brief after a fresh batch of 13F filings lands includes the Consensus highlights — top buys, top sells, and cluster new positions, with the conviction lead funds. It drops back out until the next batch, so it never clutters a normal morning.

Cadence

The send comes from Resend — add it to your contacts so it doesn’t land in promotions.

What it’s not

  • Not a real-time alert system — for live intraday flow, use the Market Pulse right rail.
  • Not exhaustive — it surfaces the top items per section, not every event.
