# Phase change

> Tickers that just changed regime — trend, vol, or breadth.

The **Phase Change** screen flags tickers in your active watchlist (or a loaded sector) that have just shifted regime — trend direction, vol state, or relative-strength leadership.

It's the answer to "what changed today that I should look at?"

## What counts as a phase change

A phase change is a meaningful state transition, not a daily price move. Examples:

* **Trend flip** — short-term momentum changed sign and is confirmed by the medium-term signal
* **Vol regime shift** — vol moved from Low → Spiking, or Spiking → Normal
* **Breakout** — closed beyond a meaningful level (52-week high, 200-day MA reclaim, etc.)
* **Breakdown** — same idea on the downside
* **Relative strength inflection** — name's relative-strength vs its sector or SPY just turned

Each flag carries a tag explaining *which* phase changed, so you don't have to guess.

## Where to find it

Available from the [Single Names](/single-names/overview) section, on the **Watchlists** sub-tab. The Phase Change view runs against:

* The **active watchlist** if one is loaded
* An **ad-hoc sector load** if you used Browse Sectors
* An **all-watchlists** sweep ("Analyze All Watchlists") for thematic ignition signals across every basket you have

## How to use it

* **Daily skim** — open Phase Change against your main watchlist. The flags are the names that earn attention today.
* **Confirm with chart** — click any flagged ticker to see the chart and the move that triggered it.
* **Cross-check with macro** — a ticker flipping bullish on a day the [quant score](/concepts/quant-score) is also flipping risk-on is a higher-conviction signal than a flip on a day the macro is fighting it.
* **All-watchlists sweep** — when multiple watchlists light up the same theme (e.g., "uranium" flagged across your speculative-energy and your inflation-hedge lists), that's *thematic ignition* — flow concentrating on a real story.

## What phase change is not

* It's not a buy/sell signal — it's an attention-direction tool
* It's not predictive — it tells you a regime *just* changed, not whether it will hold
* It's noisy in chop — during range-bound markets, expect some whipsaws
