# Macro overview

> How the Macro page is laid out, and what each piece does.

The [Macro](https://auramarkets.io/macro) page is the most-used page in auramarkets. It's where you go to read the market — what regime are we in, what just changed, what's the cross-asset story.

## Layout

Three columns:

* **Left rail** — navigation between views (Calendar, Cross-Asset, CTA, VRP, Credit, Oil, QFI, Daily Recap). Click any one to swap the center pane.
* **Center pane** — the active view. Default is the macro dashboard: the Cross Asset Monitor table, two always-on **ambient strips** (Credit verdict + CTA Pulse — each a one-row summary that clicks through to its full view), upcoming events, and the Deep Dive signal charts.
* **Right rail (Market Pulse)** — always visible, no matter which view you're in. The live cross-asset snapshot and AI feed.

The default view is yours to arrange: the header's **Layout** button [reorders or removes any section](/getting-started/customize) — and the Pulse rail itself can be removed if you want the full width.

## The economic calendar

The Calendar view tracks the events that move markets, in four buckets:

* **Data releases** — CPI, NFP, FOMC, PCE, GDP, Retail Sales, ISM (Mfg + Services), PPI, JOLTS, consumer sentiment. Recent ones show consensus / previous / actual.
* **Options & market structure** — **monthly options expiry**, **quad witching** (the quarterly index-and-options expiry), **VIX settlement**, and the annual **Russell reconstitution**.
* **Fed** — the rate decision, **FOMC minutes**, **Jackson Hole**, and semiannual testimony.
* **Treasury** — the **quarterly refunding announcement** (issuance sizes / duration supply).

Events are tiered — **Big Three** (NFP / CPI / FOMC), **Tier 1** (high-impact), **Tier 2** (routine) — and colour-coded by category. The recurring ones (expiry, witching, etc.) compute their own dates, so the calendar stays current on its own.

<Note>
  These scheduled catalysts also feed the AI: the **Market Pulse** briefing flags imminent big events ("FOMC tomorrow — binary risk"), and the **Daily Recap**'s *tomorrow's setup* pulls its catalysts straight from the calendar.
</Note>

## What's always on the right (Market Pulse)

The Pulse sidebar stays pinned no matter which view you select on the left. It's the live read of right-now.

## How most people use it

1. Open Macro in the morning. Check Pulse for overnight + pre-market.
2. Skim the Daily Recap for yesterday if you missed the close.
3. Click into Cross-Asset or a model (CTA / VRP / QFI) when you want to dig into a specific question.
4. Come back through the day; Pulse refreshes throughout.
